Sedona and Northern Arizona Wneries

Today was a wonderfully relaxing day.  I decided to go for a run this morning before we headed out to Sedona and the area wineries.  I can't believe how difficult is was to run at this altitude.  I've always heard things about how altitude makes exercise difficult, but now I really understand it!!!!!!

After breakfast, we headed south on HWY 89 to Sedona.  What a beautiful drive.  We started at an elevation of 7000 ft and ended up in Sedona at 5000 ft.  The mountains and rock formations were spectacular!  The drive down saw us zigzagging down the mountain following lots of switchbacks.

We got to Sedona and were both in awe at how beautiful this town was.  Albeit very touristy, the fact that the town is surrounded my mountains was amazing.

Then time to go to some wineries a bit further south!!!!!  Started in Cornville and went to 3 places.

And then to Cottonville for another couple of wineries.

And what goes better with wine, than cheese!!!!

We both decided that the wineries here were far better than the "2nd biggest wine area in the USA" in Fredericksburg, Tx.  We still don't believe this is true though.  The people at the wineries here were super friendly and the wines were great!  We decided that we would get a bottle of wine and some of the cheese and bread and take it back to our hotel for a relaxing dinner tonight!

When we first planned our trip, we had only planned on staying 1 day in this area.  We are so glad that we decided to spend 3 nights here.  It is a beautiful place and we will hopefully return someday!

Tomorrow we head to Vegas!!!!!!

Enjoy!
